Student Life
Though our school program is focused on engineering and technology, we recognize the value of providing students with a well-rounded education, which includes a wide variety of academic and non-academic outlets. Our students may arrive as early as 8:15 am and are able to begin their day with breakfast, morning sports such as basketball and soccer, or tutoring and homework time in our computer lab.
The school day for students begins promptly at 8:45 am, and Energy Tech enforces a strict lateness policy. Please refer to our student handbook for additional details. The academic day ends at 3:45 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for students, and tutoring, clubs, sports, and activities run until 5:00pm on those days. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students are dismissed at 2:20pm, and many students participate in early college coursework at LaGuardia Community College during this time. The school is also open on a series of Saturdays for academic support classes and recreational activities.
At Energy Tech, you can expect for students to participate in a very broad range of field trips. Some trips we have taken in the past include Chelsea Piers, Outward Bound, various museums and cultural centers, work sites and technical service labs, NY Mets games, Broadway shows, and more.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the extracurricular program throughout the school year. It is an excellent way to make new friends, develop new friends and hobbies, and relax after a day of challenging coursework!
