Parents and Families

Dear Energy Tech High School Families,

On behalf of the Energy Tech High School Parent Association (ETHSPA), I would like to extend a warm welcome to our returning community of students and their families, and the old and new members of the ETHS staff. I hope that your summer was exciting and full of wonderful activities. I also want to welcome our new families into the Energy Tech High School community. As you might have noticed during your school visits, ETHS has a very diverse, energetic and passionate community of students, teachers and parents. We invite you all to join us in making our third school year—2015-2016—at ETHS, a very interesting and dynamic time for our community. We would really appreciate your ideas, energy, talents and contributions.

The purpose of the Energy Tech High School Parent Association (ETHSPA) is three-fold:

  1. To assist the ETHS administration and staff in providing varied enrichment programs for ETHS students;
  2. To provide educational programs for ETHS parents; and
  3. To provide an avenue for communication among parents, teachers, ETHS administration and staff.

All parents and guardians of current ETHS students are members of the ETHSPA. Members can attend and participate in all meetings and activities of the ETHSPA. We are aware that all of our parents are occupied with the demands of everyday life, but a small contribution of your time and energy can contribute significantly to our efforts to cultivate a nurturing educational environment for our community.

This year, the ETHSPA will organize several events to further our mission of supporting our children. These events will provide an excellent opportunity to meet and work with other parents and have fun doing it. PA participation allows parents to be a little bit more involved in life of the school. In the near future, we will present volunteer opportunities for our parents and we hope you will take advantage of them.

We look forward to working with everyone in the upcoming year within the ETHS community.

Sincerely,
Yonette Griffith
ETHSPA President

 ETHS Parent Association

The Parent Association represents all Energy Tech parents, encouraging their active involvement in the school community. Our school’s Parent Association is intended to create and foster communication, providing opportunities for parents to meet one another. We want to welcome parents to provide new ideas and help our school community continue to grow.

As is the policy in New York City public schools, all parents, stepparents, legally appointed guardians, foster parents, and persons in parental relation are automatically members of their school’s PA/PTA. At Energy Tech, our parents, guardians, and families become members of the ETHS Parent Association on their child’s first day, and we look forward to increased parent presence at meetings and in our school community!
